On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport you met outside by our representative who will introduce you to your driver guide(s). You will
then be transferred to The Norfolk Hotel. Lunch and dinner on own arrangements.
Enjoy an overnight stay at the Norfolk Hotel
The Norfolk Hotel was opened on Christmas day, 1904 and has spear-headed
traditions of hospitality in East Africa which are still unmatched today. It is
said that Nairobi as a capital city grew up around the Norfolk Hotel.
Day 3 NAIROBI – ABERDARE NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, proceed to the Abedare Country Club where you will check in
and also have lunch. As the base hotel of your overnight accommodation (where
you are required to have minimal luggage), the Aberdare Country Club will take
charge of some of your luggage as you will only take with you to your Tree hotel
an overnight bag. After lunch, the hotel transport will transfer you to the
heart of the Aberdare National Park, where your Tree hotel, The Ark, is
situated.
Set in the heart of the Aberdare National Park, this unique game lodge overlooks
a floodlit waterhole and salt lick which attracts a host of wildlife - elephant,
rhino, leopard, bushbuck and occasionally an elusive Bongo or Giant Forest Hog.
Resembling and named after Noah's Ark, the Ark comprises three decks from which
numerous balconies and lounges provide superb vantage points for game viewing. A
ground level bunker provides excellent photographic opportunities and takes you
closer, than you would believe possible to the animals. Comfortable en suite
cabins are fitted with buzzers to announce the arrival of one of the "Big
Five" at the waterhole. A fantastic dining experience and overnight stay at
Ark Lodge.
Day 4 ABERDARES NATIONAL PARK - SWEETWATERS GAME SANCTUARY
After breakfast, you will be transported back to the Aberdare Country Club to
collect your stored luggage and join your Safari Ventures driver guide(s). You
will then venture on to Sweetwaters Tented Camp just in time for lunch.
Sweetwaters Tented Camp lies in the heart of privately owned 22,000 acre
Sweetwaters Game Sanctuary, enjoying magnificent views across the game-studded
plains to the snowcapped peaks of Mount Kenya. Overlooking a floodlit waterhole,
the camp offers visitors an unforgettable opportunity to watch and photograph
animals in their natural habitat. Accommodation is provided in luxuriously
appointed tents, set under thatch, with en suite facilities and private
verandah. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Sweetwaters Tented Camp.
Day 5 SWEETWATERS GAME SANCTUARY
After breakfast, you will explore the private reserve on a ˝ day game drive.
Lunch is served back at the lodge, returning to the park for an afternoon game
drive. Included on this day is an exciting and wondrous trip to the Chimp
sanctuary. Relax after dinner and enjoy an overnight stay at Sweetwaters Tented
Camp.
Day 6 SWEETWATERS - MT KENYA SAFARI CLUB
After breakfast you will drive to the magnificent Mt Kenya Safari Club
located at the base of Mt. Kenya. Mt Kenya Safari Club was founded in 1959 by
the late film star William Holden, eccentric American Ray Ryan, and Swiss
financier Carl Hirschmann, it has been a Mecca for the international jet set -
its list of members reads like a who's who of royalty, aristocracy, and the rich
and famous. It's an ideal resort for relaxing. Extra activities include nature
walks, fishing, golfing on the 9-hole course, horseback riding, visit to the
animal orphanage or simply relax by the heated pool. Lunch and dinner are both
provided and an overnight stay at Mount Kenya Safari Club.
Day 7 MASAI MARA
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Nanyuki Airstrip for a short
aircraft flight across the Great Rift Valley to the Masai Mara Game Reserve.
Upon arrival in Mara you will be met by Mara Safari Club vehicles that will
transfer you to the Club for lunch. After lunch you will discover the impressive
Masai Mara Game Reserve on an afternoon game drive. Return to the Mara Safari
Club for dinner and an overnight stay.
The Masai Mara game reserve is the home of the largest concentrations of
animals in Kenya and is the northern extension of the famous Tanzania Serengeti
National Park. It is in this area that annual migration of Wildebeest
accompanied by the predators takes place (normally between June and September).
Residents Wildebeests always dot the plains. Huge prides of lion live in the
Mara and cheetahs are often found on the plains. There are large herds of
elephants and buffalo and other plains animals are also to be found.
Day 8 MASAI MARA
Wake to early morning tea/coffee and depart for an early morning game drive
in the Masai Mara Game Reserve. Return to the lodge for breakfast and spend the
rest of the morning at your leisure. Lunch is served at the lodge, followed by
an afternoon game drive in the reserve. Return back to the Mara Safari Club for
dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 9 MASAI MARA - NAIROBI
After breakfast you will be transferred to the Airstrip by Mara Safari Club
vehicles for a small aircraft to Nairobi. Upon arrival at Wilson Airport you
will be met by a Safari Ventures representative who will show you to your
vehicle for transfer to the Norfolk Hotel for a dayroom. Lunch is at your
leisure and on your own arrangements. Later in the evening you will be
transferred to the airport for your homebound flight.
